Who is Carlisle Tire?
Carlisle Tire was founded in Carlisle, PA by Charles Moomy in 1917. Since 1917 Carlisle Tire has grown to one of the world largest manufacturers of specialty tires and wheels. With over 4000 dedicated employees throughout the world, Carlisle Tire is know the world over for producing high quality tires, tubes and wheel for all kinds of equipment form ATV's to lawn tractors, golf carts and trailers. Carlisle originally began by selling tire tubes to Montgomery Wards and grew to be quite successful until the stock market crash of the 1920's and the subsequent Great Depression. As the US entered World War II Carlisle was plagued by natural rubber supply problems and was forced to begin using synthetic rubber in the production of their tire and tire tubes.
In 1943 Carlisle Tire was sold to Pharis Tire and Rubber Company which later liquidated the company and distributed all of the Carlisle Tire Stock to Pharis Tire and Rubber stockholders. The company was renamed Carlisle Corporation. Over the next 60 years Carlisle Tire would continue to grow and and acquire new and innovative product lines. With facilities throughout the United States and the world, Carlisle tire continues to provide some of the best specialty times available.
