Last year the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company premiered their new Evolution H/T line of tires as a replacement for their long-standing Discoverer H/T tire, which immediately took the industry by surprise when it was awarded “Best New Tire” at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, beating out the G-Max RS and G-Max AS 05 performance tires from General Tire.
The Evolution H/T is part of the the new Evolution line along with the new Evolution Tour, which replaces the CS3 Touring, and is part of the American tire manufacturer’s “mid-tier” price point line meant to compete with similar tires from competitor Uniroyal, and comes in 28 tire sizes from cars, to SUVs, to light pickup trucks.
The Cooper Evolution H/T is designed specifically for sport-utility, crossover utility, and light trucks; while the Evolution Tour is designed for cars, minivans, SUVs and CUVs.
Both models feature Cooper’s trademarked Stabledge Performance to increase handling and dry grip stability, and 3D Micro-Gauge™ siping, which allows the tire to maintain a stable shape during acceleration, braking and cornering.
The Evolution H/T adds additional hydroplaning resistance by featuring wide channels that efficiently move water away from the tread area, while the Evolution Tour’s ribs and grooves feature a blocky pattern for stability and handling and a tread compound designed to offer an even wear and long life.
