Michelin Tweel
The Michelin Tweel is a revolutionary new mobility solution that combines a tire and a wheel into a single integrated unit. The Tweel is designed for use with all skid steer loaders, designed for maximum flexibility with minimum downtime and maintenance.

Design
The Tweel starts with a flexible yet strong “shear beam” that forms the rim of the wheel. The shear beam consists of two steel hoops with a rubber core, so that stretching and compressing forces that act on different parts of the wheel can be tied together and counteract each other. The rim is connected to the hub with a series of strong but deformable poly resin spokes. When a load is applied, the hub sinks until it is hanging from the upper spokes, so that the wheel has a large footprint for increased traction—while still allowing the tire to rotate.
Advantages
Designed with the goal of “No maintenance, no compromise, no downtime,” the Michelin Tweel has a number of advantages that set it apart from traditional tires and wheels. It cannot lose air or go flat, although it retains many of the traditional advantages of pneumatic skid steer tires. The Tweel offers superior comfort, traction, and stability while reducing the need for maintenance and downtime. The spokes reduce the bounce associated with inflated tires, while also removing the threat posed by punctured and penetrations.
Maintenance
Replacing the wheel, tire, and valve assembly, the Tweel is simple to attach and easy to maintain. The tread is deep and open, which makes for easy cleaning as well as excellent traction. In addition, the Tweel makes a skid steer easier to maneuver and more stable, which means the job is easier on the operator. This reduces fatigue and improves productivity.
The Tweel has won a number of awards that recognize the innovation and creativity behind the unique design. With the ability to reduce maintenance while increasing traction and handling, it’s no wonder that the Michelin Tweel has become such a popular new addition to skid steer loaders.
